AMI Announces Name Change to Reflect Broader Market Role

The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) has announced it will change its name to Advice, Mortgages, Insurance, while keeping the AMI acronym. The announcement was made at the AMI Annual Dinner by chief executive Stephanie Charman.

Charman stated that the new name reflects the broader work the organisation undertakes and aligns with the current market environment. She explained that the evolution of AMI will be visible not only in its strategic priorities but also in a refreshed look and feel for the organisation.

According to Charman, the modernised identity aims to retain the heritage, trust, and credibility valued by members and the wider sector. She emphasised that this change is about more than just a new appearance, highlighting AMI’s broader remit and ongoing commitment to supporting its members.

Further announcements related to this change are expected in the coming week.

During her speech, Charman also discussed the importance of collaboration to enable holistic advice. She noted that while the regulator is not intervening to improve the take-up of protection, it should not be an afterthought. AMI will focus this year’s Protection Viewpoint on how consumer behaviour, technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and changing advice models are influencing protection conversations.

Charman said AMI aims to normalise protection conversations with smarter prompts and creative approaches throughout the mortgage journey. The organisation will also produce a Viewpoint on the Value of Advice.

This development may be of interest to UK letting agents and inventory clerks, as changes in the advice and mortgage sector can impact the wider property market and related services.
