Goodlord Selects Reposit as Sole Deposit Replacement Partner

Goodlord has announced Reposit as its exclusive partner for deposit replacement products, making Reposit the only integrated tenancy security solution available on the Goodlord platform. This move comes as the rental sector continues to adopt alternatives to traditional cash deposits.

Under the new agreement, landlords using the Goodlord platform will have access to Reposit’s product, which provides up to 60% more cover than a traditional five-week deposit. Tenants opting for this alternative pay a non-refundable fee equivalent to one week’s rent, instead of the standard five weeks’ deposit upfront. Traditional cash deposits will still be available alongside the deposit replacement option.

The partnership builds on an existing relationship between Goodlord and Reposit that began in 2021. The companies have cited the upcoming Renters Rights Act as a factor influencing this arrangement, as the rental sector adapts to regulatory changes expected to affect tenancy management across England.

Goodlord’s managing director of insurance, Oliver Sherlock, stated that the partnership could help address some of the challenges posed by the Renters Rights Act. He also noted that there are already hundreds of mutual customers using both platforms.

Reposit’s chief executive, Ben Grech, described deposit replacement products as a more modern and efficient alternative to traditional cash deposits, which have been the standard for decades. The new arrangement makes Reposit’s product the default option for joint partners on the Goodlord platform, while still maintaining tenant choice between deposit types in line with regulatory requirements.

Deposit replacement schemes, which typically involve insurance-backed guarantees rather than cash held in protected schemes, have gained traction in recent years. These products are seen as a way to address affordability barriers for tenants and reduce the amount of capital tied up in deposits. The integration of financial products like Reposit’s into technology platforms such as Goodlord reflects a broader trend in the UK rental market, as agents and landlords seek to streamline tenancy processes and adapt to legislative changes.
