Halifax Announces Rate Cuts Across Mortgage Products
Halifax has introduced rate cuts of up to 13 basis points (bps) on selected mortgage products, effective from Monday 24 August. The reductions apply to homemover, first-time buyer, and remortgage ranges.
In the homemover and first-time buyer range, selected rates have been reduced by up to 11bps. For remortgage customers, a 13bps reduction has been made on the 60% loan-to-value (LTV) two-year fixed rate with a £1,999 product fee.
Aaron Strutt, product and communications director at Trinity Financial, commented that fixed rates have been coming down, but not quickly enough to generate significant interest among homebuyers or remortgage customers. He also noted that for those earning over £100,000, Lloyds Premier via Halifax offers a two-year fix at 4.39%, a three-year fix at 4.43%, and a five-year fix at 4.46%. Barclays currently offers a two-year tracker at 3.99%.
The report also mentions that lenders are taking steps to attract borrowers, with HSBC increasing its maximum loan sizes and other lenders raising their income multiples.
These changes may be of interest to UK letting agents and inventory clerks monitoring mortgage trends that could impact the property market and rental sector.
