Newcastle BS and Principality BS Announce Mortgage Rate Reductions

Newcastle Building Society has reduced mortgage rates by up to 25 basis points on selected residential products and introduced new base rate tracker options. Principality Building Society has also lowered product transfer rates across its residential and buy-to-let mortgage ranges.

Newcastle Building Society’s rate cuts apply to selected purchase, remortgage, and product transfer deals up to 95% loan to value (LTV). The lender has also launched several new base rate tracker products, including a two-year tracker at 80% LTV priced at 4.45% with a £999 fee, a 90% LTV tracker at 4.65%, and a 95% LTV tracker at 4.99%. Additional offerings include an interest-only tracker at 85% LTV with a rate of 4.6% and a buy-to-let tracker at 80% LTV, also at 4.6%.

Principality Building Society has reduced its product transfer mortgage rates, effective from 2 September. The changes include a 0.2% reduction on two-year fixes at 65% LTV, a 0.15% reduction on three-year fixes, and a 0.1% reduction on five-year fixes. Other residential rates have been lowered by up to 0.15%, including deals at 75% and 85% LTV, shared ownership rates at 95% LTV, and a three-year fix at 90% LTV. Buy-to-let and holiday let rates at 60% and 75% LTV have also been reduced by up to 0.15%.

These changes may be relevant to letting agents and inventory clerks monitoring mortgage product trends, particularly for clients considering remortgaging, product transfers, or new buy-to-let investments.
