Health and life insurer The Exeter has reported an increase in gross premium income and membership numbers for the year ending 2025. The company also saw growth in new business premiums for both income protection and life insurance products.

The Exeter’s gross premium income rose by 8% to £135 million in 2025, up from £125.1 million in 2024. Membership numbers increased by 3% to 151,503. The insurer paid out a record £74 million in claims during the year.

New business premiums for health insurance were reported at £19.1 million, which was in line with expectations. Income protection new business premiums rose by 21.6% to £7 million. Life insurance new business premiums also increased, rising from £3.7 million in 2024 to £5.6 million in 2025.

The Exeter paid £37 million in commission to intermediaries in 2025, representing a 19.4% increase compared to the previous year.
